First, I'll talk about the song, and then I'll address the description.

The song sounds cool! Creepy and atmospheric. I like the groove it gets later on. I'm more of a dubstep person, so I'll stop my comments on the song here, but from what I've heard, this sounds pretty good.

Now to the important stuff: climate change being an effect of capitalism. I'll say it at the top, the climate change agenda isn't factual. Here's my reasons for going against the majority:

-The majority doesn't matter. To give an analogy, a majority of scientists used to believe that the earth was flat.

-There's a lot of political motivation for climate change on the left side of the aisle. For leftists, it's a great tool. They can use climate change to get money. They can say that anyone who opposes them just needs to shut up and realize the threat of global climate catastrophe. All of that just means that we can't trust people with political power on this issue because they have the possibility of having perverse motives.

-We don't have a crystal ball to see the future. We can develop our climate models all we want, but we will never be able to see the future. Climate models are also quite extremely unreliable; many of the "best climate models" show differing outcomes for the global climate. On top of that, the organizations that make and use these climate models are in positions of power, and thus may have motives other than "find the truth about the climate."

-We can't affect the global climate. We may put out X number of liters of CO2 per year, but the Earth has mechanisms in place to keep itself stable, to rid itself of imbalances. Additionally, the amount of CO2 we put out, however massive sounding, is nothing compared to our atmosphere. Even going by the prominently leftist Wikipedia, which means they may have perverse motives, only 0.0407% of the atmosphere is CO2. Methane accounts for 0.00018% of the atmosphere, in case you were wondering.

-If the climate is actually changing, it doesn't matter. The way that the climate has changed in the past has been sinusoidal, oscillating between warm periods and cold periods. If we're not affecting the global average temperature, but it's changing, then the best explanation that we have for this is that it's just the Earth doing what it's done for a long time. (By the way, the temperature change in the past 200 years is estimated to be about half a degree celsius. I say estimated because we don't know what the global temperature was like before we had satellites.) In other words, even if the climate looks like it's going to cause global catastrophe, it's just not.

And finally, capitalism is not causing climate change. I've been to New York and Washington D.C., places where you'd expect a lot of pollution, right? That would follow from the "capitalism = climate catastrophe" thought, right? Well, because we've found better ways to burn coal, we're not emitting as much waste into the atmosphere. (On the other hand, leftist places like China are extremely polluted because they can't burn coal cleanly. I'm not sure about current statistics, but in 2014, China's pollution made up a third of the pollution in San Francisco, California...!)

In conclusion, just... no.

zybor responds:

The denials and anecdote are amusing. "We found better way to burn coal", you buy into that clean coal horse shit? Did they mention to you that NYC and SF both are dealing with sea level rising?

Like I said in the description, just because you are living in comfort doesn't mean the rest of the world are the same. That's why I fucking hate Americans, even their own people suffering they are so fucking dumb they would deny it. You have been to Texas or New Orleans lately, boy? 3 massive hurricanes in a fucking year, still denying it eh?

Cool!

QWAZDYN responds:

Thanks!

Those toms are cool! Nice vibe to it, nicely processed. Cool!

DelectorMusic responds:

thank you :)

Hey, cool! I'm not sure quiiite what you were going for, but this sounds like a regular band composed a jazz piece. It's not bad, it just could be better. Keep in mind that much of the jazzy sound comes from crazy chords, walking bass, and improv. For crazy chords, there's a lot of techniques out there, but I find that the best chords come out of combinations of circular progressions, modal interchange, secondary dominants, 7ths, 9ths, & so on, and tensions. Oh, and the II-V and it's variations, of course. For coming up with chord progressions when you feel like it, try Online Sequencer ( https://onlinesequencer.net/ ). You can experiment with chords pretty freely there. Good luck! :)

PikmanDude responds:

Thanks; I'm a relatively inexperienced jazz composer and plan to take what you've suggested into consideration next time I write a jazz piece.

Really spectacular! This is basically perfect, but my only critiques are that there's a lot of bass in the buildups and not enough high stuff in the drops. Still, good bass arrangements, really nice groove, just really cool. :)

Swissity responds:

Thank you so much for your feedback, Hippokopter!

Hm... I'd advise mixing things a bit better and making everything louder. There's a psychoacoustic effect where louder things sound better. If you're able, make stuff LOUD, it sounds good. Also, don't repeat noises too terribly often. That's not to say that repeating noises is illegal, just repeat things in moderation. There's some kind of balance to it, I guess. If you're looking for inspiration on how to develop this track, maybe listen to Omar Varela's "Mess Up" ft Ghostkilla: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBpUecMa4s

WR4ITHExtras responds:

This is a WIP and therefore isn't mixed or mastered yet. I am planning to add more sounds as well if I finish this. This is simply just a layout of the drop without extra synths added in. Thank you for the review nonetheless :)

This is AWESOME! All I have to say is that this is much more like trap than it is like dubstep, but this is still really cool!

Wertw responds:

Haha, thank you, I know, is that there is no trap tag :P

Pretty cool! I like the schmancy chords! I don't have a lot of critiques, but I do have one, and I'll put it bluntly: the balance isn't good. That's not to say that you can't learn from your mistakes though. Just don't take what I say personally. :P

That being said, balance issues can arise from one of two things: lopsided volume or lopsided/lack of mixing. (I know that volume is part of mixing so saying that is somewhat redundant, but in this track, they seem like they should both be focused on individually.) It sounds to me like the lopsided volume is persistent throughout the whole track, and the lopsided/lack of mixing is in the drops. With the volume, I would think it's somewhat simple - turn up stuff that you want people to notice, and turn down the background stuff, just as a general rule. As for mixing, if you don't already know, mixing is removing conflicting frequencies between different noises so that 1.) they sound better together and 2.) one is more prominent than the other, typically. So for dubstep, highpass the hats and background arps or whatever's happening up high, sidechain the sub bass with the kick, and remove frequencies from anything else around 250 Hz to bring out the snare (or whatever frequency the snare hits at), including the basses, leads, and background chords. Then, just adjust volume 'till it sounds good.

So yeah. Crazy stuff, but I think you can get the hang of it. :)

gdWoowoo responds:

Thank you for the feedback. I actually made this song a while back (when i was worse at mixing), and i think I've gotten better. I didnt upload my newer ones because newgrounds has a limit for uploading in a given period of time. I also did learn from your feedback, and I will keep in mind everything you said about mixing.

One other thing i should mention is that this is a compressed version of the song.

If this was in GD, it would become an overused song in a heartbeat. Super awesome!

DerpcatOfficial responds:

its on gd now :)

Hey, that's sounding good! Maybe for the second half of the melody, you could have it go up a bit higher?

Just so you know, Highscore, as you probably know, is by Panda Eyes and Teminite, but unless you've checked him out, you may not know that Teminite has tons of this exact type of music. Go listen to his stuff, get some ideas, develop your song. You can find him right here: https://www.youtube.com/user/TeminiteMusic

Best of luck! :D

Zelgeon responds:

Believe me, i actually know and listen their music ^^
